Read Don's Candidate StatementSince 1960, at the age of 2, Don has made Contra Costa County his home. He attended schools in Concord and Walnut Creek and participated in the Scouting program. Later, as a teenager, he enjoyed Sea Scouting, where he gained his love for the Delta waterways. At age 19, Don served a mission for his church in North Carolina. After his mission, he attended college in Utah. With the exception of the time he spent on his mission and at college, he has continuously lived in Contra Costa County.
In 1979, Don married his wife, Kim, who he had known since grade school. They have been married for 29 years and have 3 children - Amy, Kyle and Trevor; and 2 grandchildren - Elijah and Cadence.
Don began working in the automotive industry in his early career. Working through his apprenticeship, he became a journeyman in the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and then on to management in 1988, at Mazzei Cadillac in Antioch. A year later he obtained a regional sales manager position in the Bay Area with a Fortune 500 company; his region became the nationwide leader in sales in less than a year.
After his successes in sales and management, Don decided to enter the real estate industry in 1989. He obtained a real estate sales license, a real estate appraiser license, a real estate broker license, and became a Superior Court expert witness in Contra Costa County. Simultaneously, over the years, Don has also been involved in many construction projects in various capacities, which precipitated his obtaining a California General Contractor’s License. Don is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Lioness, Inc., in Brentwood, California.
